Since 1976 the Phelps County Community Foundation has served as the connection between donors and the Phelps County causes they love.
PCCF provides grant opportunities for Phelps County organizations, scholarships for area students, and hosts give2GROW - an annual giving day designed to raise awareness and funds for Phelps County nonprofits and organizations. 2021 will mark the 10th year for give2GROW and it will be held on Thursday, November 18th. For more information on give2GROW please visit www.give2growphelps.org.
The Phelps County Community Foundation is excited to announce Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is coming to Phelps County. All children residing in Phelps County from birth to age five are eligible to participate in the program, mailing a free, age-appropriate book each month directly to the child.
“The Imagination Library is an outstanding early childhood literacy program, and PCCF is thrilled to offer it to all children residing in the county. By putting books directly into the hands of Phelps County families we hope to foster a love of books and reading in our youngest residents – the future of our county,” said Kara Faber, Executive Director.
To participate, parents or guardians must register their child(ren) with PCCF. Once registered, the child can expect to receive their first book in mail in about 6-9 weeks. If multiple children are registered at one address the children may receive their books on different days due to the way the book mailing process is completed.
PCCF is currently working with schools, daycare facilities, the Holdrege Public Library, and other community partners and businesses to get registration forms to parents. Forms may also be picked up at the PCCF office located at 424 Garfield St. in Holdrege, NE, or by visiting www.phelpsfoundation.org.
People interested in learning more about registering their child(ren) in the Imagination Library can contact Coral Weeder, Program Assistant, at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling the PCCF office at 308-995-6847.
About Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library
Since launching in 1995, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library has become the preeminent early childhood book gifting program in the world. The flagship program of The Dollywood Foundation has gifted well over 140 million free books in Australia, Canada, The Republic of Ireland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The Imagination Library mails more than 1.7 million high-quality, age-appropriate books each month to registered children from birth to five.
Dolly envisioned creating a life-long love of reading, inspiring them to dream. The impact of the program has been widely researched, and results suggest positive increases in key early childhood literacy metrics. Penguin Random House is the exclusive publisher for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. For more information, please visit imaginationlibrary.com.
